cts | Volt a Day | News Blackout Once a Month October 29, 2010

The conference calls between GM and the members of the Customer Advisory Board will be off-the-record. There will be no reporting of agendas, minutes or details revealed in the calls. I was probably the reason the rule was mentioned, since I had already posted the agenda for the first conference call.
It seemed like a reasonable restriction to me, although I admit that I was hoping there would be someone at GM in charge (a PR flack seems like the right person) who could clear a press article about the call. That way if I bothered to write up a summary of a call, and ran it past that person, I could let readers know about issues resolved in the call or features clarified. Unfortunately, I asked about that (and wrote up a sample post for approval about the first call) and we refused.
So those calls will be blacked out. If you hear anything about those calls either someone is going against their word (we all agreed they were off the record) or you are getting bad information. I believe this is a missed opportunity on GM's part, but I think from their point of view they have more to lose than gain.
