The book is Vehicle Electrification. It is a pain to download. It's an Adobe Air application, which means it is a stand-alone Flash application for "reading" a book. It has a fancy interface and a lot of graphics.

If it were a PDF I would send it to my Kindle (on the iPad). As it is I might read through some parts of it. Before we leased our EV1 in 1999 I read a book called The Little Car That Could, which was all about the development of the EV1. Apparently having an embedded journalist in the design and development process is not an experience that GM wishes to repeat, since it meant that when they halted the EV1 program it was easy for people to identify the executives in charge. And there was a lot of material.

So I suspect this book is a careful collection of interviews and research, rather than the result of a day-by-day journal of time spent with the Volt team. But it will certainly have information about the development, and the vehicle, which is not yet available elsewhere.

Me, I'm still looking forward to my in-person research.
