I am an architect living in Santa Monica, California. My wife is a television writer and producer. I love technology and she loves the environment. So, many years ago, I did six weeks of intensive research and she started driving GM's EV1. Then she drove the Gen II version. When they took that away, she switched to a Toyota Rav4 Electric. She's been driving for over a decade fully electric and has 66,000 miles just in her Rav4.

The Rav4 is great, but the range is about 80 miles now. No longer enough to make it up to Ojai, where she likes to go to write. We have a Prius as our long-range vehicle, but I would prefer to have something that allowed me to drive electric most of the time, and then occasionally kick in to some other mode to get us up to Santa Barbara.
